🎓 Lessons Learned 🎓

Embrace Discomfort for Growth
True personal transformation often begins when discomfort with the status quo outweighs fear of the unknown—lean into that discomfort.

Sit With Your Emotions
Naming and examining your feelings, rather than suppressing them, helps lessen anxiety and brings clarity for better self-understanding.

No Decision Is a Decision
Choosing not to act is still making a choice—own your decisions, whether they are active or passive.

Use Your Unique Strengths
Authentic leadership means knowing your strengths, weaknesses, values, and not forcing yourself into someone else's mold.

Building Self-Discipline Incrementally
Start small to push through discomfort; repeated small actions compound to greater resilience and discipline over time.

Ask for Help—It’s Strength
Leaders and individuals progress faster and further when they acknowledge limitations and allow others to support them.

Failure Fuels Future Success
Every mistake and failure offers invaluable lessons; viewing setbacks as opportunities increases confidence and adaptability.

Vulnerability Creates Connection
Being open about challenges or mistakes cultivates trust, deeper relationships, and stronger teams—it's a sign of courage.

Listen, Don’t Fix Immediately
Often, the most powerful support is listening instead of jumping to solutions; let others be heard before acting.

Humor Transforms Tough Moments
Using humor (when appropriate and not at others’ expense) diffuses tension, builds connections, and makes challenges more manageable.

Butterfly Goo: The Down and Dirty Truth of Transformation

🦋 Embrace the Mess and Transform

In Butterfly Goo, executive coach Rachel Burr dismantles the idea that transformation is a smooth, pretty glow-up. Instead, she shows just how messy it is, the goo, the chaos, and the soul-scrabble.

Part memoir, part self‑help guide, the book digs into real-life missteps, hilarious misadventures, and the messy breakthroughs that come when you lean into change. It's raw, funny, and—most importantly—authentic, with practical exercises at the end of each chapter to help you step into your own “goo moment” (amazon.com).

Rachel’s core message: You have to go through the goo to grow. The weird, uncomfortable, uncertain middle isn't a pitfall—it’s the metamorphosis itself. And with her guidance, even the muddiest moments become powerful catalysts for growth.

Weekly Challenge Trophy Weekly Challenge

This week, notice when you feel anxiety or any physical or emotional discomfort—basically, any time something shows up for you, whether it’s a feeling in your body or a thought. When that happens, pause for a moment. Instead of pushing it aside, get curious: ask yourself, “What’s going on? What am I experiencing right now?” Spend some time listening to what you’re telling yourself and sit with those feelings, even if they’re uncomfortable (“sit in the goo,” as Rachel puts it).

You don’t have to take any action beyond that, unless you want to. The first goal is to notice and be honest about your self-talk and reactions. If you want to take it further, Rachel says you can also consider: “What’s the conversation you want to have with yourself instead?”

Pause, notice your feelings and thoughts during moments of discomfort, and get curious about them. Listen to your internal dialogue. If you’re ready for more, think about how you’d like that internal conversation to go.
